The new SWOMP offers a boost in performance and reliability while also reducing weight.  How is that possible?  The direct drive system.  Direct drive means full power transfer to the propeller shaft (there’s no u-joint using a portion of your HP) as well as less vibration. The new frame design also allows for a lower pivot point, which means an improved angle of entry into the water.  All of this equates to more of your horsepower going where you want it. The new frame is so good that we’re now making it the standard SWOMP model for larger horsepowers (full tubular frame models will continue to be available as the SWOMP Classic series).

The SWOMP: Achieving excellence in Performance, Toughness and Reliability

In the few years since we created the new SWOMP motor series design, it has become known by many as best longtail you can buy. Using a combination of DOM tubing and a CNC'd aluminum bell housing, we have been able to increase performance while reducing the complexity that makes other designs vulnerable.

Most traditional longtails use a universal joint to connect the engine output shaft to the propeller drive shaft. Sure, u-joints are pretty tough to break. But wanna know what's even tougher? Having no u-joint to break at all. Inside of our bell housing the engine output shaft is connected to the propeller drive shaft with a straight, high horsepower single split clamping coupler. In addition to being incredibly durable, this design also eliminates the parasitic power loss experienced by u-joint longtails.

Another key to our performance is the SWOMP frame geometry. By pivoting off the bellhousing and lowering the angle of the prop entering the water we achieve better directional power transfer and more speed. Pivoting off the bell housing also has the benefit of effectively increasing the handle length. This gives the driver more controlled leverage and makes the SWOMP even easier to drive. The final benefit of our design is that we've been able to reduce weight without any sacrifices.

To put it simply, Backwater motors are in a class of their own because we don't just strive for excellence — we achieve it.

WHAT OUR CUSTOMERS SAY

Just got my 23 hp and i have it on a 1440 Xpress with me.  I am looking at 28mph with my son and all my fishing stuff and about 24mph on full plain. We are running in 2" of water on the colorado river here in La Grange, TX, where the water is very low.  I just made the river longer for me to fish. I love my Copperhead mud motor and thank you VENOM OUTDOORS.COM!
